No Service Architecture - New tendencies of architectural agency

In recent years, architects have increasingly begun to overcome their traditional role as service providers and take on the role of client themselves. This has given rise to an expanded architectural practice with different development models and constellations, which has produced some highly regarded and award-winning projects. This raises the question of whether better buildings for all are created when architects commission themselves? To answer this, we examine and visit a number of reference projects, analysing them along basic parameters of project development and evaluating them in terms of their social, environmental and aesthetic implications.
